Quota Scholarships for PhD Students at UMB for the academic year 2012/2013, Norway

The Quota Scheme was implemented by the Ministry of Education and Research in the autumn 1994 as a Norwegian Governmental Assistance Scheme to promote capacity building in the students’ home countries and encurage participation from these countries in the process of internationalization of higher education.The Quota Scheme covers living expenses while studying in Norway, travel allowances according to fixed national rates at minimum student costs and support to cover field work in the student’s home country as part of the study in Norway.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The language requirement for degree seeking students is the same whether the application is for a bachelor, master or a non-degree programme. UMB follows the general national requirement:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a result of at least 550 points for the Paper-basd test (PBT), 213 points for the Computer-based test (CBT) and 80 points for the Internet-based test (IBT)
  • International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) with a score of at least 6.0

SCHOLARSHIP OPEN FOR STUDENTS OF FOLLOWING COUNTRIES: Albania, Afganistan, Bangladesh, Brasil, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Cambodia, China, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Kosovo, Laos, Macedonia, Malawi, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam and Zambia.
